The Order of the Most Holy Trinity
Founded at the end of the 12th century, the Order of the Most Holy Trinity is a religious community whose mission is deeply rooted in mercy, freedom, and service to the most vulnerable. Since its origins, the Order has been committed to bringing a message of hope and compassion to the world, inspired by the Christian faith and by God’s love for every person.
Their Vocation
The Trinitarian vocation was born from a simple yet powerful desire: to work for the liberation of captives and to reveal God’s mercy in the world. Over the centuries, this mission has taken many forms through hospitality, spiritual guidance, and support for people experiencing hardship or searching for deeper meaning.
Trinitarian spirituality is expressed concretely through actions inspired by the Gospel: feeding the hungry, welcoming strangers, visiting the sick and prisoners, comforting those who suffer, and accompanying people on their spiritual journey. These actions reflect a profound desire to embody presence, compassion, and solidarity in today’s world.
Their Story
From its earliest days, the Trinitarian Order also developed a tradition of sharing resources known as Tertia Pars, dedicated to supporting those deprived of freedom or living in difficult conditions. This spirit of generosity continues to inspire Trinitarian initiatives through various pastoral and community efforts.
Today, the Order is present in more than 30 countries, bringing together religious brothers, sisters, and many lay associates committed to the Trinitarian mission. Together, they continue the same calling: to bear witness to God’s presence in the world through prayer, hospitality, and service.
In Canada and France, several Trinitarian houses continue this mission, including Maison Trinitaire in Granby, which carries forward this tradition of hospitality and spiritual growth.
To be Trinitarian today is to continue bringing this heritage to life: welcoming, supporting, and witnessing to God’s mercy in the contemporary world.
